As first reported by On Target News on June 26 two men are facing charges. The following is a press release on June 28 from the Manchester Police Department. On November 22nd, 2023, Capstar Bank, located at 1814 Hillsboro Boulevard in Manchester, TN, was robbed by an unidentified male. The suspect entered the bank and instructed the employees to fill bags with money. After the suspect obtained the money, a witness observed a male get in to a vehicle and exit the area. Manchester Police Department began the investigation by collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses and victims. Because of the amazing local support, Manchester Police Department was able to locate an identical vehicle entering the city just prior to the robbery. This led Manchester Police Investigators to a business in Murfreesboro. After reviewing and collecting CCTV evidence, a male suspect was identified as Stephen Hampton (25).

Maverick, a 3-year-old Boykin Spaniel owned by Jackie DeAngelo, just took top honors at the prestigious International Dog Show in Nashville. Four international judges awarded Maverick four first-place medals as well as three best-in-show ribbons and one reserved ribbon—his combined awards enabled him to take the show’s highest honor: the Grand Sieger Winner. Maverick recently received an Award of Merit at the Westminster Dog Show in New York.

The enhancements under the Bill Dance Signature Lake project include continued management and stocking of bass, walleye, and crappie, annual habitat improvements for enhanced family fishing opportunities, improved fishing docks, and a new 5-lane boat ramp.

Martha Charlotte (Cloud) Rorex, 93 of Bridgeport, AL died at the home of her daughter Jane Holland in Dutton, AL on June 27, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born in Doran’s Cove December 9, 1930, to her parents Harry and Jessie Thomas Cloud. She was married to her husband Elmoore Rorex for 66 years. She retired from her job as Bridgeport High School cafeteria manager after 25 years of service. She was a member of the Stevenson Church of Christ.
Dorothy Jean Shelton
Dorothy Jean Shelton, age 77 of Belvidere, passed away on June 30, 2024, at her residence. She was born in Lincoln County on August 26, 1946, to the late Lannie Tripp Baker and Madge Tripp. Dorothy retired at Lanier but had also previously worked at Wilson Sporting Goods and in the cafeteria at Franklin County High School. She even sewed baseballs together on the side. When she was not working, she enjoyed riding horses, sitting on the porch, sewing and crocheting, and being with her family. Dorothy always looked forward to driving to see her grandchildren and great-grandchild. She was a strong-willed, determined, loving lady that was always devoted to her family. She was a member of the Owl Hollow Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, Dorothy is preceded in death by her siblings, Charles Baker, Barbara Sisk; and grandson, Joshua Hill. She is survived by her husband since 1962, Charles Shelton; son, Wayne (Carla) Shelton; daughter, Gina Brazelton; grandchildren, Bethany Hill, Emily Griffin, Megan Hill, Casey Shelton, Zach Shelton; several great-grandchildren, Audrey Shelton, Myla Richardson; siblings, James Walker (Debbie Winton), Debbie Walker (Sylvia Walker), Brenda Ramsey (Jim Ramsey); and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, from 5pm-8pm. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 11am at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Lois Cemetery. Tullahoma Police Department has charged two suspects in connection with numerous reports we have received regarding unknown subjects shooting at citizens with air pellet guns and vandalizing property. Johnny Boyd Champion Obituary
Johnny Boyd Champion, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at his home at the age of 85. Mr. Champion was born in Winchester to the late Charlie and Argie Fears Champion. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and went on to work in Shipping and Receiving at the Eaton Corporation, retiring after 30 years. Mr. Champion was of the Baptist faith and was called to preach the gospel in 1972. He was ordained as a pastor on Sept. 21, 1975 and served 45 years in the ministry before retiring in 2017 at the age of 78 due to health issues. In addition to his parents, Mr. Champion was preceded in death by one son, Jeffery Champion; and his siblings, Howard Champion, Nina Payne, Geneva Gipson, Mary Garland, Parker Champion, and Rudy Champion. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Elsie Hill Champion; two daughters, Lisa (Eddy) Seals, and Lea Ann (Patrick) Phillips; daughter-in-law, LaDanna Champion; eight grandchildren, Corey (Courtney) Damron, Amanda (Alex) Lefever, Jeremiah (Keela) Seals, Jeffery Champion, Joel (Katie) Champion, Amber (Matthew) Gluch, Peyton (Jenna) Phillips, and Jay (Mika) Phillips; and 13 great-grandchildren, Cobie Damron, Caysen Damron, Hayley Seals, Hendrix Champion, Aubry Champion, Kimber Champion, Piper Champion, Tinsley Champion, Grayson Gluch, Brinley Gluch, Sawyer Phillips, Beckett Phillips, and Baylor Phillips.

Freed-Hardeman University has released the names of students who made the President's and Dean's Lists for the Spring 2024 semester. City budget passes $37 million budget in final reading
The Fiscal Year 2025 City Budget passed in a third and final reading at the Board of Mayor and Aldermen’s second June meeting, totaling to $37,227,852. Alderman Daniel Berry made an amendment to add back in the non-profit and tourism funding that he had previously motioned for to be put into contingency since he said the board had to cancel study sessions regarding the two issues. Alderman Derick Mann seconded his motion and the motion passed unanimously.
