Local VFW Wins Award and Cornhole Tournament Planned
Since the Veterans of Foreign Wars was established in Tennessee in 1930, no other Tennessee Post had earned the coveted All-American Post designation three years in a row until 2021, when Manchester’s Old Stone Fort Memorial VFW Post 10904 received its third consecutive award. Year over year, members of Manchester’s VFW shattered their own records and have just earned their sixth consecutive VFW National All-American Post award; their seventh consecutive VFW Tennessee’s All-State Post award; and their third consecutive VFW National Community Service Award for the State of Tennessee.

Wood graduates, Holmes makes honors at Ole Miss
Grace Holmes, of Tullahoma was named to the University of Mississippi's Spring 2024 Honor Roll lists. Holmes, majoring in International Studies, was named to the Chancellor's Honor Roll, which is reserved for students who earn a semester GPA of 3.75-4.00.
SPORTS NOTES: Peek hired as South Pittsburg (Tenn.) defensive coordinator
A former long-time football coach in Jackson County is back at a nearby out-of-state program. Shawn Peek has been hired as the defensive coordinator and strength and conditioning coach at South Pittsburg High School in South Pittsburg, Tennessee. The school is located just a few miles across the Alabama-Tennessee state line near Bridgeport.

Local students make musical tour of Europe
During the month of June, 63 musicians from high schools all over the southeast spent a good part of their summer vacation on a musical tour of six countries in central Europe. Tullahoma High School honors music students were among those selected to tour and perform on this once in a lifetime experience.
Tullahoma Men’s League season on deck
The men’s baseball league in Tullahoma will be starting on July 8 according to the Parks and Recreation website. The games will be every Monday and Thursday from 5:30 to 10 p.m. The contests will be played at Greene Field and Grider Stadium.
Two charged in pellet gun attacks
Tullahoma Police Department has charged two suspects in connection with numerous incidents of shooting at people with air pellet guns and vandalizing property. The suspects, Hunter Elliott and Joseph Bolduc have been charged with five counts of reckless endangerment and five counts of vandalism. Warrants against the pair maintain the victims of the vandals were parked in various parking lots ranging from the theater and church parking lots to parking lots where the victims work. The damage observed by the victims ranged from $300 to $1,000 in costs and in some cases the victims were actually inside their vehicles and heard the impacts. Video footage showing the vandals’ Camaro helped lawmen identify the suspects. Police say Bolduc admitted to he and Elliot being the shooters once he was questioned.
Festival Review: Day 3 and 4 of Bonnaroo 2024 in Manchester, TN
The festival reached its midpoint on Saturday. Despite the heat exhaustion, the crowd felt proud of making it this far. The first artist I photographed on Saturday was Renee Rapp. Renee has been climbing the charts over the past year after a successful career on Broadway as Regina George in Mean Girls and starring in HBO Max’s hit The Sex Lives of College Girls. She remains incredibly popular among girls, gays, and theys and did not disappoint. The signs fans brought for this show might have been the most hilariously vulgar ones of the weekend. I was expecting an impressive, high-energy performance, and she blew my mind.
