Northeast Iowa Bridge Projects Held Up by High River Levels Move Forward
Held up by flooding for the past three weeks, plus high water levels prior to that, construction of a new bridge over the Mississippi River at Lansing is set to resume. Pete Hjelmstad with the Mason City District office of the Iowa DOT says the suspension of work, which started in early June, is expected to come to end on Monday (07.22).
Unsettled weather to continue through early next week, slightly warmer and more humid as well
The weather has varied decently from one side of the viewing area to the other today. We’ve seen more sunshine and warmer temperatures closer to Rochester, with more cloud cover, cooler temperatures and rain near Mason City. This will continue to be the trend through the remainder of this afternoon, with gradual clearing this evening as the sun sets and we loose the daytime destabilization that has helped kick these showers off.
Looking ahead at Sunday
Good afternoon folks! The weather we have seen today has varied quite a bit from one side of the viewing area to the other. For folks in Rochester, Owatonna and Austin…you’ve stayed relatively dry and have had a fair bit of sunshine as well! Temperatures for our dry areas have been well into the 70F’s, while rain cooled air is lurking in our western and southern viewing area (closer to 70F).
Mason City holds sixth annual Pride
(ABC 6 News) – The Mason City LGBTQ+ community held their sixth annual Pride celebration on Saturday in Central Park and at the Principal Pavillion in downtown Mason City. Organizers of the event say that, while Pride is typically celebrated in June, Mason City holds their event in mid-July to coincide with other area events, and to allow organizers and community members to attend other, larger pride celebrations nearby to serve as a model for the Mason City event.
