St. Cloud Council to Discuss Resolution on County Jail, Courts
ST. CLOUD (WJON News) -- The St. Cloud City Council will discuss the future on the Stearns County Justice Center during its meeting on Monday night. Council member George Hontos has asked for a discussion on a resolution stating the city council's support for keeping the jail and court services downtown.

Patricia “Pat” A. Pottratz, age 85 of Zimmerman, MN, and formerly of Davenport, IA, passed away surrounded by family on July 16, 2024, at Fremont Village Senior Living in Zimmerman. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 6:30 PM on Friday, July 19, 2024, at Williams Dingmann Funeral Home in Princeton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Christ Our Light Catholic Church in Princeton with a visitation one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Father Kevin Anderson will officiate. Burial will on Monday, July 22, 2024, at 12:30 PM at St. Joseph Cemetery in Elk Mound, WI.

Richard "Dick" Bloom, 87, of St. Cloud, formerly of Willmar, died Saturday, July 13, 2024, at his home in St. Cloud. His Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 26, at the Church of St. Mary in Willmar and will be streamed at https://www.ourlivingwater.org/dickbloom.html. Interment with military honors will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 25, at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Willmar Public Schools Foundation to be used for school supplies. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar, www.hafh.org.
Part of Beaver Island Trail closes July 22 for repairs
ST. CLOUD, Minn. — Part of a popular hiking trail in St. Cloud will close next week for construction. Beaver Island Trail will close on Monday, July 22, from 3rd Avenue South to Veterans Bridge. In that area, crews will work on retaining wall repairs and erosion control improvements.
