St. Cloud Area Teams Fare Well at State Amateur Baseball Tourney
The St. Cloud area is well represented at the Class C and B State tournaments. In Class C the Cold Spring Rockies, Buckman Billygoats, Farming Flames, St. Joseph Joes and Kimball Express were all winners this past weekend. A Ramsey Family Farm Known For Fall Fun Has Moved Closer To St. Cloud!
For fans of fall fun, you might note that one area family fall fun farm has moved! The Pearson Family Farm that used to be in Ramsey has now moved closer to St. Cloud, as they are setting up near Clear Lake. The farm made the emotional announcement on social media that the move was complete over the weekend.

Age 75 of South Haven, passed away August 18th at her residence, surrounded by her family. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Memorial services for June Pannhoff, will be held Friday September 13th at 11 AM, at Heartland Evangelical Free Church in Annandale. Burial to follow at the Acacia Cemetery in Clearwater. WATCH: Green Day Shouts Out St. Cloud At Target Field Saturday Night
It's been one heck of a week for concerts in Minnesota. Not only was it Corcoran Country Daze with Dylan Scott and Gary Allen, Koe Wetzel played the Armory on Thursday, and Friday and Sunday this band called Metallica is playing at US Bank Stadium. Well Target Field didn't want to miss out on the action so of course they were hosting the rock band Green Day Saturday night. While performing, When I Come Around, the group started shouting out Minnesota cities, and St. Cloud made the cut!

A funeral service for 66-year-old MARK CARLSON of Litchfield will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at 11 A.M. at Ostmark Lutheran Church of rural Watkins. Visitation will be on Monday, August 19 from 5-to-7 P.M. at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
Zoning Board to Consider CUP for Monument Sales Move
ST. CLOUD (WJON News) -- The next step is expected to be taken this week for a longtime granite monument company in St. Cloud to move part of its manufacturing operation. The St. Cloud Zoning Board of Appeals will consider a Conditional Use Permit for Monument Sales Incorporated at its meeting Tuesday.
Growing Leadership in the Workforce in Central MN
People are either born leaders or learn to be leaders. Gail Cruikshank, Talent Director from the Greater St. Cloud Development Corporation joined me on WJON for our monthly "Get a Job" segment. She identified how young people can become leaders. Cruikshank says 65% of youth involved with Big Brothers and Big Sisters agreed their Big helped them reach a higher level of education than they thought possible. 52% reported their Big kept them from dropping out of school. 51.9% of high school students attending EPIC reported learning from someone in the field that was most effective for their career exploration. These numbers indicate some sort of mentorship can be beneficial for young people.
Town Ball State Tournament Summaries
The Express from Section 11C defeated the Redbirds from Section 13C, they out hit them thirteen to one. They collected a home run, a triple and a double and they had nine players that collected hits. They played very good defense in support of their pitchers. Veteran righty Ben Johnson started on the mound. He threw eight outstanding innings to earn the win, he gave up one single, one walk and he recorded six strikeouts. Draftee from the Monticello Polecats, righty Brock Woitalla closed it out with one inning of relief he recorded a pair of strikeouts.
