Welcome to Thursday's weather on repeat, warm with very little change in the humidity in between afternoon clouds and an ever so slight chance of rain.

Since nothing says summer like Florida's humidity😰, this week's theme will address a perfect way to cool down with yummy recipes from St. Augustine’s Spice & Tea Exchange for crafting refreshing cocktails and mocktails.

Sunnyside Sangria is made with dry white wine; Green Tropical Green Tea; a syrup of Mango Sugar and Peppermint Herbal Tea; lemons; frozen fruit; pineapple juice; your favorite brandy (or not); sparkling wine or club soda; and sprigs of fresh herbs.

The power of the purse 💸

St. Johns County Administrator Joy Andrews has proposed a $1.2 billion budget for fiscal year 2025 that keeps the property tax rate the same as 2024. But, if adopted, it still means property owners will pay a little more.

The St. Johns County Commission has started the process for the Fiscal Year 2025 Budget.

According to a county news release, St. Johns County saw a 13.2% increase in its total taxable property value. That will bring in $40.8 million more to pay for things such as continued road construction and improvements, hiring firefighters and increasing the salary of sheriff's deputies.

Fun thing to do this weekend.... Ride a LiMoke

St. Augustine’s Moke rentals added a LiMoke, the first six-passenger Moke in existence, to their zip-around-town-having-a-blast collection of vehicles. The one-of-a-kind sunny yellow electric zippity-do-da vehicle is perfect for traversing cobblestone streets and ocean coastlines.

Tommy and Crystal Horton, co-owners and founders of Moke and Seaside Adventures , attributed the inspiration behind the high-capacity vehicle — perfect for families and small parties — to customer feedback.

“Our guests loved the convenience, comfort, and cool look of our Mokes, but they wanted a higher capacity vehicle,” said Crystal. “With the help of our amazing partners at Mokes Unlimited, we designed the LiMoke.”

The 1950 British Army invention was originally designed to parachute to earth. (!) While its military career never launched, England’s Princess Margaret, Bridget Bardot, The Beach Boys and Caribbean travelers adored the cultural cache as a symbol of beachy island life. By gosh it was even featured in four James Bond movies!

Moke America upgraded the vehicles — bigger, wider, stronger, all-electric and street legal — and the Hortons worked with Mokes Unlimited to transform the classic model into a custom-stretched, eco-friendly limo ride powered entirely by lithium batteries and equipped with advanced speed and battery enhancements.
