Man pleads guilty over Walmart rampage
A Washington man was sentenced Tuesday to eight years in prison for hiding in a Walmart until after closing, then causing thousands of dollars worth of damage to the store. Michael S. Douglas entered a guilty plea to one felony count of first-degree burglary in connection with the incident. In exchange for the plea, the state agreed to drop a lesser charge of first-degree property damage. Franklin County Circuit Judge Craig Hellmann sentenced Douglas to eight years for this crime.
1 person killed in rollover crash in Eureka
EUREKA, Mo. (First Alert 4) - One person was killed in a rollover crash in Eureka early Monday morning. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 5:30 a.m. at MO-109 and I-44. Troopers were advised of a two-vehicle, fatal accident and responded to the scene. One person is confirmed dead at this time.

Arson Suspect Found Deceased
Jefferson Co., Mo. (KFMO) - The search for an arson and burglary suspect ended last week after he was found deceased. According to the Eureka Police Department, 39-year-old Nicholas Combs was found in the Meramec River, near George Winter Park, in Fenton, on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 by the Missouri State Highway Patrol Water Division. Combs allegedly committed an arson in the city of Eureka, on June 28, 2024. He was also a person of interest in a burglary which occurred in the early morning hours of July 2, 2024 in the 3300 block of White Oak School Road, in the Jefferson County portion of Eureka.

When a fire broke out between a pair of homes in High Ridge, Missouri, last week and rapidly spread to one of the houses, 15-year-old babysitter Savannah Strother acted quickly to save the two children in her care. Frankie R. Brake, 91, of Eureka died June 19, 2024, in Fenton. Mrs. Brake was a homemaker, a babysitter for more than 60 years and a charter member of Ballwin Baptist Church. Her heritage was deeply rooted in Shannon County where her grandfather was co-builder of the Story's Creek Schoolhouse and the lead carpenter of the construction of the Alley Mill. She attended a one-room schoolhouse in Munsell and later attended Eminence High School. She enjoyed singing in the church choir and going to bluegrass shows and music festivals to watch her husband, Paul, perform. She also enjoyed traveling across the country with her husband and spending time with her family and friends. Born March 8, 1933, in Winona, she was the daughter of the late Martha Ann (Terrill) and Grover C. Wilson.
Desloge woman dies in Franklin County motorcycle crash
A Desloge woman died in a motorcycle crash Sunday afternoon south of Luebbering, according to the Missouri State Highway patrol. The patrol reported that at approximately 12:30 p.m. Yvonica Waldrop was driving a 2005 Suzuki VS800 on Highway 47 and “failed to negotiate” a curve near Highway FF, causing the motorcycle to travel off the right side of the roadway and strike a tree.
St. Clair woman injured in crash, charged with DWI
A St. Clair woman who was seriously injured in a crash late Saturday morning was allegedly driving while intoxicated, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The patrol reported that at approximately 11:15 p.m. Mara Montague-Foreman, 64, was driving a 2015 Dodge Journey westbound on Gravois Road near Katherine Lane just east of St. Clair. Montague-Foreman “failed to negotiate” a curve to the left and the vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck a utility pole and overturned multiple times.

Tammy Allyce (Burton) Hauser, 62, of Cedar Hill died July 8, 2024, at Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis County. Mrs. Hauser graduated from Northwest High School in 1979. She worked at the Chrysler Corp. as well as Northwest High School before retiring to babysit her grandchildren. She was happiest when spending time with her husband, chatting with her family or piddling around the yard followed by her dog. She loved antiques and crime shows, and she joked she had sequins in her soul. She is remembered for her warmth and kindness, even to strangers, and for her vibrant personality and spirited nature. Born Sept. 13, 1961, she was the daughter of Peggy Burton of Byrnes Mill and the late Richard Burton.

Brenda Lea Horton, 74, of Cadet died July 12, 2024, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. Horton was a retired secretary for the Kingston K-14 School District. She was a member of the De Soto Christian Church. Born May 1, 1950, in De Soto, she was the daughter of the late Juanita (Huskey) and Homer Thebeau.

Jefferson City tops St. Clair to start Junior SuperZone Tournament
While St. Clair Post 347 was able to add runs late Saturday, it wasn’t able to catch the No. 2 seed in the Junior Legion SuperZone Tournament first round. Jefferson City Post 5 (17-9) defeated St. Clair (2-9) in the opening round of the tournament in Jefferson City, 8-2.
Developers target 2025 opening for Ellisville apartments
ELLISVILLE — The developers behind a new apartment complex here said they are targeting completion for next summer. Mila Apartments, off Manchester and Clarkson roads, will have 227 apartments, from studios through three-bedroom units, that range in size from 552 to 1,363 square feet. The amenities will include a pool, fitness center and walking paths to the nearby Bluebird Park, according to a release.

One person dies in crash on Highway 109 in Eureka
One person died in a crash Monday morning in Eureka, authorities said. The two-vehicle crash happened about 5:30 a.m. on northbound Highway 109 near Interstate 44. The Missouri Highway Patrol hasn't released the name of the person who died. No other details of the crash were immediately released.
