Memorial services to begin Friday for Boone County Assistant Fire Chief Matt Tobben
UNION, Mo. (KMIZ) Memorial services are set to begin Friday for Boone County Assistant Fire Chief Matthew Tobben as he will be laid to rest in Union, Missouri. The Boone County Fire Protection District wrote on its social media Wednesday that a visitation will be held 3-8 p.m. Friday at Oltmann Funeral Home. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at East Central College in Union, the post says. The burial will be private.

Warren R. Baisch, 95, of De Soto died July 12, 2024, at Country Meadows in Park Hills. Mr. Baisch and his wife, Mary, owned and operated Baisch Nursing Home until their retirement. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in De Soto. Born Aug. 3, 1928, in De Soto, he was the son of the late Rudolph and Alice (Ledinger) Baisch.

Nicholas Stephen Blackford, 78, of De Soto died July 1, 2024. Mr. Blackford was a member of De Soto Elks Lodge 689 where he was a past exalted ruler. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in De Soto, was a 3rd Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 1185 of De Soto and was a 30-year booster of the Amvets Post 48. He enjoyed playing golf, drinking cocktails, barbeque grilling, spending winters in Texas with friends and spending time with his family. Born July 23, 1945, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Wilma Ruth (Stubblefield) and Joe Blackford.

Diana Jean (McKinnis) DeClue, 53, of Hillsboro died July 10, 2024, at her home. Mrs. DeClue was a longtime employee of Signature Orthopedics. She enjoyed gardening, feeding the wildlife, camping and spending time with family. Born Jan. 17, 1971, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of Barbara (Nowicki) Isringhaus of Hillsboro and the late Charles McKinnis.

Dorothy J. “Dottie” Kite, 93, De Soto died July 10, 2024, at StoneBridge Senior Living in De Soto. Mrs. Kite worked as a bookkeeper and was a member of First Baptist Church in De Soto. Born Jan. 25, 1931, in De Soto, she was the daughter of the late Lucille (Uland) Livengood and Lawerence Isbel. She was the stepdaughter of the late Woodrow Livengood.

The Ballwin man has taken his love for reptiles and other creepy, crawly things and turned it into a two-hour educational program, which he has presented at events as diverse as birthday parties and national television shows. Serengeti Steve is a frequent performer in this area and was at Washington’s riverfront Wednesday where he entertained some 250 kids and moms in the main pavilion.

The 78th annual Jefferson County Fair will offer some old favorites, some new events and lots of tasty treats. The four-day fair is set for Thursday through Sunday, July 18-21, at the county Fairgrounds, 10349 Business 21, in Hillsboro. The hours are 5-11 p.m. July 18; 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. July 19; 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. July 20; and 3-9 p.m. July 21.
