Assistant fire chief Matt Tobben honored throughout Boone County and Missouri
A funeral service and tribute for fallen Boone County firefighter Matthew Tobben will be held this weekend in his hometown of Union, Missouri. Visitation will take place Friday afternoon, followed Saturday by a funeral with full service honors and a procession of firefighters and public safety apparatus.

On May 1, Osage Food Products celebrated its 25th anniversary of offering ingredient solutions and outstanding service to the food, beverage, and nutrition industry. The company was founded in 1999 by Bill Dickinson in Washington, Missouri, a small community about an hour west of St. Louis. At the onset of the business, Bill and his small team were focused on ingredient trading, offering buy and resell services along with inventory management expertise.
Pacific pool open for 2024 season
The Pacific municipal pool has finally opened. Despite thunderstorms and flood warnings early in the week, the city posted the announcement on its website and social media pages Monday, marking the beginning of its abbreviated 2024 season. Mayor Heather Filley said in an email that Midwest Pool, the company that manages Pacific’s facility, worked diligently to get the pool prepared “despite their initial thought of not being able to open.”

In early 2023, Holt was feeling restless and looked up a YouTube video about making wire-wrapped rings. She made two rings, both of which she gave to her mother the next day. UNION — First responders from departments across Missouri donned their Class A uniforms and traveled to Union to pay their respects to Boone County Fire Protection District Assistant Chief Matthew Tobben on Friday afternoon. He died in the line of duty while rescuing two people from floodwaters in Columbia early Monday morning.
