No injuries after Amtrak train derails near Washington, Missouri
FRANKLIN COUNTY, Mo. — No one was injured when an Amtrak train carrying more than 100 passengers derailed Monday evening just east of Washington, Missouri. The Lincoln Service Missouri River Runner derailed near the area of Ming Drive, north of Highway 100, along a stretch of tracks that run along the Missouri River. The scene was about six miles east of the Washington Station, an Amtrak station that sits in the downtown Washington historic district.

Eureka house explodes during reported fire
At approximately 11:15 p.m. on June 28, firefighters from the Eureka Fire Protection District responded to a reported house fire near Twin Rivers Road. While on the way to the residence, firefighters were told that the home had exploded. Assistant Chief Scott Barthelmass said three people were residents of the home, and neighbors had told the department two people were trapped inside the structure.

MoDOT requests public input for I-44 Corridor Study
(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.) The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is requesting the public's input in an environmental study of Interstate 44 this summer. According to a media release from MoDOT, the environmental study, called "Forward 44" specifically targets over 250 miles of I-44 from the Oklahoma state line to the Route 100 East interchange near Gray Summit in Franklin County.

Conner, who will be a sophomore at Hillsboro this school year, won the national title in the bulls-eye competition with a score of 297 (out of a perfect 300) at the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) championships June 6-8 in Daytona Beach, Fla. In the 3-D Challenge, Conner shot 293 to finish fifth. At the Eastern NASP tournament May 9-11 in Louisville, he scored 292 in bull’s-eye (33rd out of 2,513 participants) and 288 in 3-D (third out of 295).
Amtrak train derails near Washington, Mo.
FRANKLIN COUNTY, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A train going from Kansas City to Chicago derailed just east of Washington, Mo. Monday afternoon. The derailment happened just before 5:00 p.m. near Old Highway 100 and Ming Drive, which is close to the Missouri River. A tree being down on the tracks led to the derailment, Amtrak says. Power was out on the train for a time but has been restored.

KANSAS CITY—An Amtrak train struck a tree Monday afternoon near Washington, Missouri. According to a statement from the rail service, "Just before 5p.m. Monday, Amtrak Train 319 made contact with a tree on the tracks east of Washington, Missouri. There were no injuries to the 124 passengers and five crew members aboard the train made up of one locomotive and seven railcars, but rear axle of the locomotive lost contact with the tracks."

She claimed traveling to Ireland and kissing the Blarney Stone on her birthday was one of her happiest moments. She enjoyed spending time with family. She will be remembered for her smile, sense of humor and ability to find beauty in all things. Born June 18, 1943, in Detroit, Mich., she was the daughter of Harvey and Rosemary (Clancy) Downey.
