Man pleads guilty over Walmart rampage
A Washington man was sentenced Tuesday to eight years in prison for hiding in a Walmart until after closing, then causing thousands of dollars worth of damage to the store. Michael S. Douglas entered a guilty plea to one felony count of first-degree burglary in connection with the incident. In exchange for the plea, the state agreed to drop a lesser charge of first-degree property damage. Franklin County Circuit Judge Craig Hellmann sentenced Douglas to eight years for this crime.

Arson Suspect Found Deceased
Jefferson Co., Mo. (KFMO) - The search for an arson and burglary suspect ended last week after he was found deceased. According to the Eureka Police Department, 39-year-old Nicholas Combs was found in the Meramec River, near George Winter Park, in Fenton, on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 by the Missouri State Highway Patrol Water Division. Combs allegedly committed an arson in the city of Eureka, on June 28, 2024. He was also a person of interest in a burglary which occurred in the early morning hours of July 2, 2024 in the 3300 block of White Oak School Road, in the Jefferson County portion of Eureka.

Brenda Lea Horton, 74, of Cadet died July 12, 2024, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. Horton was a retired secretary for the Kingston K-14 School District. She was a member of the De Soto Christian Church. Born May 1, 1950, in De Soto, she was the daughter of the late Juanita (Huskey) and Homer Thebeau.
St. Clair woman injured in crash, charged with DWI
A St. Clair woman who was seriously injured in a crash late Saturday morning was allegedly driving while intoxicated, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The patrol reported that at approximately 11:15 p.m. Mara Montague-Foreman, 64, was driving a 2015 Dodge Journey westbound on Gravois Road near Katherine Lane just east of St. Clair. Montague-Foreman “failed to negotiate” a curve to the left and the vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck a utility pole and overturned multiple times.
