Coaldale police said that a Lansford man took a bag of candy from a borough convenience store and began eating it without paying for it. When a clerk asked John Shubeck Jr., 23, to pay for the candy, Coaldale police said Shubeck lifted up his shirt to show a gun and then fled.

Railroad crossing project to begin next week in Snydertown
SNYDERTOWN — Motorists who travel Market Street (Route 4005) in Snydertown Borough are advised that a railroad crossing project begins next week. Beginning Sunday, Market Street will be closed between Camp and Furman roads, while the contractor, CTW, installs a custom tub-style rail/highway crossing across the road.

Road in Jim Thorpe to be closed as UGI installs gas main
JIM THORPE, Pa. - A road in a Carbon County borough will be closed as UGI works on installing a gas main. Tentatively starting Wednesday, Race Street in Jim Thorpe will be closed for thru traffic from Broadway to Susquehanna Street from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, according to a news release from the borough.
