MOUNT CARMEL — A borough firefighter escaped injury when part of a floor inside 137 W. Seventh St. gave way during a fire early Saturday. Fire Chief Jack Williams Jr., who directed firefighting efforts at the scene, said the Clover Hose Fire Co. firefighter, whose name was unavailable, was operating on the second floor of the home when it’s believed floor boards collapsed.

Walker discusses road work, salt purchase
The Walker Township Roadmaster Chad Felty and the township supervisors agreed on some road shoulder grading work to be done at the monthly meeting Thursday.
