Rachel Lolmasteymaugh says she has a “deep love” for her hometown. Lolmasteymaugh became director of the Downtown Alliance at the St. Cloud Area Chamber of Commerce in early July.

“When I was offered this position, I was seeking a change that aligned with my career aspirations," she said. "This role perfectly fits my vision. My strong personal and professional ties to this community, cultivated over many years, will undoubtedly contribute to my success.”

Lolmasteymaugh previously worked across a vast regional area, including Fargo and northern Minnesota, fostering and improving associations.

“While I enjoyed that work, I often felt disconnected from the changes I helped implement," she said. "Now, I have the opportunity to make a direct impact in my own community, benefiting the areas I know and love.”

For nearly 15 years, Lolmasteymaugh has networked and built connections throughout central Minnesota. Through volunteer work with United Way, CentraCare's Holly Ball, the Sartell and St. Cloud Chambers of Commerce and other organizations, she says she formed numerous friendships and professional relationships.

“Additionally, my experience organizing large expos in Central Minnesota has equipped me with valuable skills in large event planning, which will be instrumental as we strive for bigger and better events downtown,” Lolmasteymaugh said. “Fortunately, I have already established strong relationships with many downtown businesses. This foundation will be invaluable as I work to create a more vibrant and connected community atmosphere.”

Lolmasteymaugh has further plans for invigorating downtown St. Cloud moving forward.

“I will work to promote economic and community development in downtown St. Cloud through strategic partnerships with local businesses and community members,” she said. “By organizing annual events, conducting research-based projects, and advocating for the downtown area, the Alliance aims to create a vibrant and engaging environment that enhances the experience for visitors, residents, and business owners in the St. Cloud area.

Lolmasteymaugh feels now is the perfect time to step into this role as several organizations are eager to collaborate and elevate the downtown area.

“St. Cloud businesses and residents share a unified vision for downtown improvement. The city has developed a dedicated task force focused on downtown enhancements, while the Greater St. Cloud Development Corporation is providing strong leadership and advocacy,” she said. “Additionally, a group of businesses on the east side of downtown have come together to enhance that district, driving an exciting resurgence in that area. The Alliance is working with engaged businesses and volunteers to increase the vibrancy, occupancy and excitement happening in downtown.”
