Six ice cream shops to check out near St. Cloud this summer

ST. CLOUD — Ice cream is served in all styles in the greater St. Cloud area. From homemade to soft serve. Here are six independently-owned shops to check out.

Flavors range from mocha caramel latte to bubblegum, pistachio or blueberry cheesecake. There's also homemade Mexican ice cream available.

Jupiter Moon Ice Cream

Locations: 15 E Minnesota St., Suite 108, St. Joseph, MN 56374

1399 Kilian Blvd. SE, St. Cloud

Hours: St. Joseph — 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. daily

St. Cloud — 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily

What to expect: Jupiter Moon Ice Cream makes its own ice cream and rotates favors at its two locations. The ice cream is made at its St. Joseph location and coffee is served in addition to ice cream in St. Cloud. Some flavor options include pina colada, mocha caramel latte and root beer.

Catalinas Michoacana Ice Cream Shop

Location: Marketplace Shopping Center, Waite Park

Hours: Monday to Thursday 12 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

What to expect: The Waite Park shop offers customers ice cream flavors like bubblegum, pecan and mango, boasting an array of fruity flavors and toppings to choose from. The ice cream is hard scoop.

Mr. Twisty

Location: 5821 Ridgewood Road, St. Cloud

1105 Central Park Blvd., Sartell

Hours: 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. daily

What to expect: Mr. Twisty has an array of ice cream options, including a red, white and blue stars and stripes option. There are also brownie sundaes and banana splits. The soft-serve establishment offers flavors like strawberry cheesecake, bluegoo cotton candy and fluffy unicorn.

La Botana Michoacana Ice Cream Shop

Location: 71 10th Ave S., Waite Park

Hours: Sunday to Thursday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

What to expect: The hard-serve ice cream establishment has several flavors to choose from, including pistachio, guava and passion fruit. The shop also offers Mexican ice cream. Want something fruity? The La Botana has a homemade fresh fruit popsicle and fresh mangaonadas.

Wandering Cow Ice Cream

Location: 14 College Ave N., St Joseph

Hours: 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. daily

What to expect: St. Joseph's hard serve ice cream establishment offers an array of flavors to choose from, including brownie cascade, blueberry cheesecake and cotton candy twist. Wandering Cow Ice Cream also has milkshakes available.

Fudgin' Delicious Ice Cream

Location: 50 County Rd.120, Sauk Rapids and at the Crossroads Center in St. Cloud

Hours: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily

What to expect: Fudgin' Delicious Ice Cream is a fast-food style restaurant with lots of ice cream options available. The hard-serve shop has flavors like Door County cherry, coconut almond bliss and cake batter fudge.
