ST. PAUL – Gov. Tim Walz and other Minnesota leaders will lead a canvassing kickoff on Saturday in St. Paul ahead of Trump's St. Cloud rally.

According to the release, U.S. Rep Betty McCollum, R-Minn., and St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter will join Walz, DFL, at the event that will focus on the Heritage Foundation's Project 2025 .

The Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank in Washington, D.C., according to USA Today, helped create a more than 900-page "Mandate for Leadership." The document was published in April 2023. It brings conservative organizations together and rethinks how the next conservative president could run the country.

The Democratic leaders, according to the release, claim Project 25 will give former President Donald Trump "unchecked power."

Trump, according to CNN , has distanced himself from the paper, calling it “seriously extreme.”

CNN states The Project 2025 document does not show that Trump intends to cut Social Security or end the Affordable Care Act. It does, however, criticize the Act.

According to CNN, "A Harris campaign official said the campaign has “made a deliberate decision to brand all of Trump’s policies” as “Project 2025.”

This canvassing kickoff event will work "to build on the groundswell of enthusiasm for Vice President Harris’ campaign — and to highlight the high stakes of the clear choice facing Minnesotans at the ballot in November," according to a release.

The event will start at 11 a.m. Saturday in downtown St. Paul. According to a Kamala Harris campaign spokesperson, because of safety concerns, those wanting to attend will need to contact the party via mobile link. DFL headquarters number is 651-293-1200.

Trump's rally will take place in St. Cloud, beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday at the hockey arena at St. Cloud State University.
