Kamala Harris ’ presidential campaign has said it brought in $200 million in the week since Joe Biden exited the race.

The campaign announced that 66 per cent of the funds came from first-time donors.

“Vice President Harris has been a candidate for less than a week, but she’s already coalesced the entire Democratic Party around her campaign and the organic, grassroots enthusiasm is producing results,” the campaign’s communications director, Michael Tyler, wrote.

It comes as senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has said he believes Donald Trump is regretting his choice of picking JD Vance as his running mate.

Speaking to Face the Nation, Schumer said: “Every day, it comes out Vance has done something more extreme, more weird, more erratic.

“Vance seems to be more weird and erratic than President Trump, and I’ll bet President Trump is sitting there, scratching his head, and wondering, ‘Why did I pick this guy?’”

Elsewhere, Trump has made clear that he's no longer seeking to unify the country following the assassination attempt against him in Pennsylvania earlier this month.

During a 90-minute speech in St Cloud, Minnesota on Saturday night, Trump admitted, “No, I haven’t changed.”

“Maybe I’ve gotten worse. Because I get angry at the incompetence that I witness every single day,” he said.
