More than 700 school nutrition professionals are expected at the Minnesota School Nutrition Association’s 67th Annual Conference, which will be held at the River’s Edge Convention Center in St. Cloud. This event, which takes place from Aug. 4 - 7, is the state’s largest school nutrition event of the year.
It features education sessions, networking opportunities and the Midwest’s largest school food and exhibit show for attendees to sample menu items and recipes as well as view products and equipment.
Willie Jet, the Minnesota education commissioner, will speak on Monday, during the opening session. As school nutrition programs reflect on the first full year of offering free meals to all students, the conference will provide valuable opportunities to exchange ideas related to increased student participation trends.
“The MSNA Annual Conference provides an excellent opportunity for school nutrition professionals to discuss best practices with peers from across the state, as well as engage with industry members who support our programs. These collaborations are incredibly crucial as we plan menus for this upcoming school year,” Michele Hawkinson, MSNA president and director of child nutrition services for Tracy Area Public Schools, said in a release.
The Annual Conference provides education sessions to assist school nutrition professionals with resources to effectively operate school meal programs. The exhibit show on Tuesday looks at what is new and trending in school nutrition.
Jon Colby, an improv master who has helped audiences improve communication, leadership, and sales skills, and April Lewis, a U.S. Army veteran turned executive whose speech, "You Got T.H.I.S!", will both give keynote speeches.
