Nebraska Casinos eying growth as sports betting brings in more than $2.6 million
LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - A year has passed since the first legal sports bet in Nebraska, and casinos in the state have brought in more than $2.6 million. Private family graveside services for Brian L. “Buzz” Stewart, 62, formerly of Albion, with inurnment will take place at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Albion, at a later date. Brian Lynn Stewart, son of Keith M. and Rosamond A. “Rosie” (Mannlein) Stewart, was born October 5, 1961 at Albion, and he died Friday, June 28, 2024 at Genoa Community Long Term Care in Genoa. He attended grade school and high school at Albion, graduating in 1980. Following graduation, Stewart worked for a local concrete company before moving to California where he was employed by a large car dealer as a car salesman and later a cable tv company. He returned to Albion, where he worked for a central pivot company and the local concrete company. In 2012, he moved to York to live with his brother, Bruce.

Funeral Services for LaDonna A.M. Morris, 90, of Newman Grove, were held Friday, June 28, 2024, at Levander Funeral Home, Albion. Rev. Carolann Hopcke and Vicar Keith Powell officiated. Burial was at Hope Cemetery, Newman Grove. LaDonna Adriene Mae Morris, daughter of John and Emma (Pittack) Koenig was born January 13, 1934, at the family farm in rural Newman Grove, and she passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Society, Albion. She was the youngest child of eight, baptized on February 11, 1934, and confirmed on March 30, 1947, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, eight miles north of Newman Grove. She received her elementary education at rural school district #67 before graduating from Newman Grove High School in 1951. In 1953 she married Glenn Morris in Schuyler. From this union she was blessed with five children: Daniel, Timothy, David, Mary, and Michael. Morris was employed at the Dunes Motel, Hobby House, and was an Avon representative. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, quilting, and reading.

Owners and/or operators and their background: John, Kim and Wesley Buck are the owners/operators. John and Kim are husband and wife and have six children. John is also a full-time chief deputy sheriff at the Boone County Sheriff’s Department and has been for the past 11 years. Kim works at the Boone County Health Center in Albion and has been working there for more than 17 years. John graduated High school from Fullerton, and Kim graduated from Albion. Wesley is the owner of the adjoining business, Azonic Products. Wesley had been involved in Azonic Products for more than 25 years. Wesley and John are father and son. They also employ Haley Buck and Autumn and Adilynn Scheffler.
