Highway 37 fatal crash involving car upside down in water snarls traffic; briefly closes roadway
Authorities are investigating a fatal crash Saturday that forced the closure of a portion of Highway 37 just east of Skaggs Island. According to the California Highway Patrol traffic incident website, the crash was reported shortly after 6:30 a.m. when a motorist came upon another vehicle that was upside down in the water off the right-hand shoulder of the roadway.

Victoria K.Turgeon Jones
Victoria Katherine Turgeon Jones, 97, of Petaluma passed away peacefully on July 15, 2024. Victoria was born on December 30th in Bodo, Alberta Canada to Wilhelm and Katherine Phillips. Victoria met her husband Gerald A. Turgeon at Saint Mary’s church in San Francisco and they moved to San Anselmo in 1963. Victoria obtained her AA degree from College of Marin and worked in accounting at Scandinavian Designs furniture for many years. After Gerald’s death in 1989, Victoria met future husband Gordon C. Jones of San Rafael (deceased) at the widow/widowers group of Marin and they moved to Petaluma in 1997. They both enjoyed traveling and Victoria was an avid swimmer at Rolling Hills Club in Novato. Victoria is survived by her son Bernard W. Turgeon of San Diego and many nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be held at St. James Catholic Church in Petaluma, Monday July 29, 2024 at 10:30AM with a burial service at Mt.Tamalpais CemeteryIn lieu of flowers, you may consider donation to the American Heart Association, Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital or Catholic Charities.
