Harles E. âChuckâ Comer, 93 formerly of Fairfield, PA passed away at his home in Frisco, Texas on July 16, 2024. Born May 05, 1931 in Ladiesburg, Maryland, he was the son of the late Edward F. & Marie Pauline (Starner) Comer. Chuck is survived by his wife, Carol M. Comer, four children, Stanley and his wife Marsha, A. Dawn and her husband Michael, Michael and his wife Angela and Matthew and his wife Suzanne, ten grandchildren, four great grandchildren, two sisters, Glenda Coppage and her husband Dick and Iris Rieck and his sister-in-law, Mary Mahan and her husband Larry. He was predeceased a brother, Gary Miller and sister-in-law, Nancie Domin. Chuck worked as a professional bartender for 35 years at the former Fairfield Inn and Pimlico Hotel. He owned and operated Chuck Comerâs Preventive Maintenance for many years. Chuck was a member of St. Anthonyâs Shrine Catholic Church in Emmitsburg, MD, life member of the Knights of Columbus (4th degree) and served as a volunteer with the Adams County Drug and Alcohol Counseling and the Maryland Counseling Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Gettysburg with Fr. Michael Pray, Celebrant. A private interment will follow the Mass in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 9:30-11:00 AM. The Comer family would like to thank Josephine Onditi and Lana Hawley for providing excellent and compassionate nursing care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Adams County SPCA, 11 Goldenville Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325 or Catholic Charities, 2050 Ballenger Avenue, Alexandria, VA 22314. The Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg is assisting the family with the funeral arrangements, online tributes and condolences can be made at monahanfun.
Former Franklin County nurse charged in connection with Chambersburg patient's death
A nurse faces charges in connection with the death of a patient at a Franklin County hospital, months after a syringe was found hidden in the deceased person's hospital bed. Sara Rae Miller, 32, is charged with three misdemeanor counts of providing false or fraudulent material information for allegedly failing to document that she administered a "substance" to the patient, who died soon afterward, according to court documents filed by the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General.
