Appalachian Chamber Music Festival to feature world premiere, 'Voices of the Niagara Movement'
HARPERS FERRY - The Appalachian Chamber Music Festival (ACMF) will be returning for its fourth summer season next month, with concerts held every day from Aug. 9-18. As in years past, each concert within the festival will be held at a different venue throughout the region, from Frederick, Maryland, to Hillsboro, Virginia, to Shepherdstown.

Richard Lee Mabry Richard Lee Mabry, 74, of Martinsburg, passed away Monday, July 22, 2024 at Berkeley Medical Center. Born March 18, 1950, in Nashville, TN., he was the son of the late Richard Jones Mabry and Freda Marie Gutherie Mabry. He served in Vietnam with the United States Marines.
John Ligush Sr.
John Ligush Sr. was born on January 22, 1931 in Vitondale, PA. He passed away peacefully on July 20, 2024, at the age of 93 in Harpers Ferry, WV. He was one of seven children. Sadly, his father passed away when John was an infant, and he was raised by his single mother, who never remarried but kept the family together despite many hardships. Being the youngest of seven children, John quickly learned about the importance of togetherness and hard work. John finished high school early and began to work to help support the family. He joined the Air Force and served between 1950-1954. He rose to the rank of staff sergeant, serving during the Korean War. After the completion of his military service, John met and married Melva Mrdjenovich on June 6, 1958. He was the proud father of two sons, Daniel and John, Jr., and father-in-law to their wives, Amy and Donna. Perhaps the most fulfilling part of John’s life was his family. He was a devoted father and a role model to his children. He was also the proud grandfather of five, Matthew, John Paul, Joseph, Annie and Benjamin. John will be remembered as a hard-working, generous and caring man who will be sorely missed by all of those who knew him.

Frederick County Health Department: Groundhog Found At Taskers Chance Neighborhood Tests Positive For Rabies
Residents who may have come into contact with the groundhog are asked to call their health care provider. Frederick, Md (KM) The Frederick County Health Department says a groundhog found last week in the Taskers Chance neighborhood has tested positive for rabies. The groundhog turned up in a stormwater management pond near the Taskers Chance swimming pool along Bel Aire Lane. Animal Control Officers collected the groundhog on Thursday, July 18th at 9:00 PM after it attacked a dog earlier that evening.
