John Ligush Sr. was born on January 22, 1931 in Vitondale, PA. He passed away peacefully on July 20, 2024, at the age of 93 in Harpers Ferry, WV. He was one of seven children. Sadly, his father passed away when John was an infant, and he was raised by his single mother, who never remarried but kept the family together despite many hardships. Being the youngest of seven children, John quickly learned about the importance of togetherness and hard work. John finished high school early and began to work to help support the family. He joined the Air Force and served between 1950-1954. He rose to the rank of staff sergeant, serving during the Korean War. After the completion of his military service, John met and married Melva Mrdjenovich on June 6, 1958. He was the proud father of two sons, Daniel and John, Jr., and father-in-law to their wives, Amy and Donna. Perhaps the most fulfilling part of John’s life was his family. He was a devoted father and a role model to his children. He was also the proud grandfather of five, Matthew, John Paul, Joseph, Annie and Benjamin. John will be remembered as a hard-working, generous and caring man who will be sorely missed by all of those who knew him.
