First Alert Forecast: higher storm chances to gradually cut heat
WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - Your First Alert Forecast for this evening features a risk of scattered showers and a few storms. As rain chances continue to be high to close the week, expect daily temperatures to sink farther back toward or into the 80s. NOAA will release its drought report at 8:30 a.m Thursday.; it will already likely reflect some relief. Like last week, downpours could cause localized flooding at times and we could see one or two severe storms. There will be plenty of dry time as well. Shower and storm chance should gradually ease as we head into the new week. The friendlier atmosphere for storms in the Cape Fear Region will, thankfully, not translate to the tropics, as new development remains unlikely anywhere in the Atlantic Basin for the rest of the week.

But we’re all here now, the gas tank is full, the 100 CD holder is bursting at the seams, and the AC is struggling to keep up in this unrelenting heat…so let’s put rubber on the road.
