Major Update in Missing North Carolina Mom and Daughter Case
A missing mother and daughter from North Carolina have been safely located, according to the Wilmington North Carolina Police Department. Police say Amanda Lynn Roberts, 36, and her daughter, Brenna Dawn Shoff, 2, were found on July 1 after they were last seen on June 26 near the 5000 block of Market Street, near the Sleep Inn and MainStay Suites.
Performance brings back memories for veterans
In a show of appreciation for all veterans, the USO-style band Letters From Home performed a musical salute to them July 2 during the North Carolina Fourth of July Festival. Veterans sat in chairs laid out on the grass in front of the covered Southport Waterfront Park stage while enjoying music from the World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War periods and more, with the Cape Fear River serving as a magnificent backdrop. Not too far behind the veterans sat three Army helicopters on display on Bay Street.
DMF asks anglers to donate red snapper carcasses
Recreational fishermen can donate to science the carcasses of red snappers that they catch during the July 12 mini-season. The season is only 24-hour period, opening at 12:01 a.m. and closing at 11:59 p.m. Friday, July 12. Anglers may keep one fish per person per day. There will be no minimum or maximum size limit. Captain and crew on for-hire vessels may retain the recreational bag limit.
