Tow Truck Operator Seriously Injured in Huntington Station Crash
Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a tow truck operator in Huntington Station this afternoon. Leonel Guillen Avila was driving a 2009 Honda Civic southbound on 9th Ave. when his vehicle struck a tow truck operator who was hooking up a disabled vehicle to a tow truck, owned by Auto Houndz, which was parked on the shoulder in front of 65 9th Ave., at 3:34 p.m.

Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney today announced that Maria Guallpa-Bonilla, 36, of Bellport, was indicted for Leaving the Scene of an Incident Without Reporting and driving in violation of a license restriction, for allegedly causing the death of Christopher Hlavaty, 22, of East Patchogue, a volunteer firefighter for the Hagerman Fire Department, after a hit and run crash.
Norwalk News: Juvenile Arrested in Shooting Incident
On Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 6:54 PM, the Norwalk Police Department received multiple 911 calls of shots fired in the Roodner Court Public Housing Complex at 261 Ely Ave. Patrol Officers arrived on the scene and found evidence that shots had been fired. As officers were on scene, information was gained that a 15-year-old victim had been dropped off at Norwalk Hospital suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Norwalk Detectives assumed the investigation and gathered enough evidence to charge a 16-year-old juvenile with the shooting. The juvenile was remanded to Juvenile Detention.
