State Route 904 in Cheney to close both directions for repaving
CHENEY, Wash. – Both directions of State Route 904 in Cheney will close for repaving starting July 16. The closure is part of the State Route 904 Betz Road Crossing project. During the first phase, from July 16 to July 22, both directions of State Route 904 will be closed at the railroad crossing south of the Betz Road intersection. Phase two, scheduled from July 24 to July 30, will close Betz Road in both directions west of the State Route 904 intersection.

EWU, UIW schedule home-and-home football series for 2025, 2027
The Eastern Washington Eagles and Incarnate Word Cardinals have scheduled a home-and-home football series for the 2025 and 2027 seasons, FBSchedules.com has learned. Copies of the athletic contest agreement for both games with the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) was obtained from Eastern Washington University (EWU) via a state public records request.
Oakesdale Old Mill Days This Weekend
Oakesdale’s Annual Old Mill Days starts Friday. There will be a beer and wine garden from 7:00 to midnight Friday. Saturday’s activities start with a pancake breakfast from 7:00 to 9:30 featuring a pancake eating contest. The fun run goes at 8:00 followed by the parade at 11:00. Afternoon events in Oakesdale feature an egg toss and car show. Old Mill Days wraps up Saturday night with music and dancing with The Hankers from 9:00 to midnight.
Heat causes roads to buckle in Eastern Washington
ROSALIA, Wash. — The Washington State Department of Transportation responded to an incident of road-buckling in Whitman County this week. It happened about 21 miles north of Colfax, along U.S. 195 next to the Horn School Rest Area. WASHDOT crews posted a picture of it to their social media account yesterday, telling the public that they would have it under control shortly.
Cheney Reservoir Levels Low
Water levels at the Cheney Reservoir are lower. The National Weather Service says the reservoir is at its lowest level since 2013. Officials say water levels are six feet below the normal conservation level, and drought conditions have been a factor.
