Cheney Library host annual book sale
CHENEY – Friends of the Cheney Library is hosting their annual Rodeo Days Book sale this Friday and Saturday outside of the Library on First Street. The library’s basement is overflowing with thousands of items for this year’s sale. Available items include hard and soft cover books across all genres, as well as tapes, CD’s, VHS tapes, and DVD’s. Shoppers are encouraged to bring their own bags for their purchase.

CHENEY – The Cheney Summer Hawks A team put up big numbers in a 4-0 run last week. Scoring on average over 10 runs, the Summer Hawks rolled past Rogers 13-2 on July 1, swept North Central 17-1 and 17-14 on July 3 and Deer Park, 18-6, July 8.

Ecology reviews public comments and considers whether discharges from this project would cause a measurable change in receiving water quality, and, if so, whether the project is necessary and in the overriding public interest according to Tier II anti-degradation requirements under WAC 173-201A-320.

NOTICE OF MEETING TO ADOPT 2024-2025 BUDGET AND CONDUCT PUBLIC HEARING. NOTICE is hereby given, pursuant to RCW 28A.505.050 and RCW 28A.505.060, that the Board of Directors (the “Board”) of Liberty School District No. 362, Spokane County, Washington (the “District”) will hold a regular meeting on July 24, 2024, commencing at 7:00 PM in the Liberty Elementary & Junior High Library located at 29818 S. North Pine Creek Rd, Spangle, Washington. The meeting is called for the purpose of fixing and adopting the budget of the District for the ensuing 2024-2025 fiscal year. Prior to adoption of the 2024-2025 budget, the Board will hold a hearing at 6:30 PM for the purpose of receiving comments from the public on the 2024-2025 budget. Any person may appear at the hearing and be heard for or against any part of the 2024-2025 budget, the four year budget plan, or any proposed changes to uses of enrichment funding under RCW 28A.505.240 (a/k/a Replacement Educational Programs and Operation Levy). Upon conclusion of the hearing, the Board shall fix and determine the appropriation from each fund contained in the 2024-2025 budget and shall, by resolution, adopt the 2024-2025 budget, the four-year budget plan summary, and the four-year enrollment projection. 2024-2025 budget information may be obtained by contacting Dana Crider, Director of Finance/HR, at 509-624-4415.

CHENEY – Last Wednesday evening, the city Parks and Recreation Department launched its summer series of movies and concerts at the park. The first event featured the big band sounds of the Lilac City Community Band, marking the start of the concert series.
