City Council approves $12 million transportation plan
CHENEY – Following a June 25 public hearing, the City Council approved spending more than $12 million on street improvements over the next five years. Public Works Director Todd Ableman said the residential street plan is estimated at $2.26 million for funded preservation work and $2.51 million for planned grant matching funds. He added that the arterial street program qualifies for federal and state preservation funds, noting staff will apply for these funds when available.
37 Year Old Garfield Man Arrested On Drug Charges And Suspected In Golf Carts Theft From Colfax
A 37 year old Garfield man has been arrested for allegedly stealing golf carts from the Colfax Golf Course. Whitman County Sheriff’s Deputies obtained and executed a search warrant at a home on Garfield-Farmington Road Sunday night. Deputies were investigating Michael Rosser as a suspected drug dealer when they learned about his alleged involvement in the theft. While searching Rosser’s home East of Garfield deputies reportedly found the truck and trailer used to steal the golf carts. The cab of the truck had been burned and damaged. Deputies believe Rosser was trying to prevent the truck from being identified in the theft case. Packaged fentanyl and methamphetamine were also reportedly discovered in Rosser’s home. He was arrested on three counts of 2nd degree felony burglary and two felony counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.
Deputies Recover Stolen Truck and Trailer in Colfax Golf Cart Theft Investigation
COLFAX - On Sunday evening, Whitman County Deputies served a search warrant at a 5800 Block of Garfield Farmington Road residence. This action was part of an ongoing investigation into a theft at a golf course earlier in June. Information from a separate narcotics case indicated that the truck and trailer used in the theft would be found at the residence.
