‘It’s disgusting’: Volunteers pitch in to clean up beaches after 4th of July celebrations
JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. – Dozens of volunteers in two locations spent the morning cleaning up big messes left after Fourth of July celebrations on the beaches. Typical trash and debris found are used fireworks and cigarette butts, but over the years, groups holding big cleanup events have found everything from clothes and shoes to toys. A World War II veteran and current Jacksonville resident celebrated his 100th birthday on Fourth of July Thursday. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5968 in Orange Park hosted a special celebration for Fred A. Long Jr., a 30-year highly decorated veteran of the U.S. Navy, according to Times-Union news partner First Coast News.

Moment Florida tornado lifts parked truck into traffic
A woman was filming out the window of her driving car when a confirmed tornado blasted past them, picking up a truck and sending it across the road into traffic.The pick-up truck flipped a few times over beach Boulevard’s median as someone in the car yelled, “Oh my gosh!” The moment was captured by Hunter Luken.Although the truck was sent over several lanes of traffic, it managed to miss the moving cars. The National Weather Service said it was an EF-1 tornado that came through Jacksonville with winds reaching up to 100mph.
