ST. JOSEPH, Ill. (WCIA) — The annual St. Joseph-Ogden 5K is this Saturday at 7:30 a.m., all to support the high school cross country and track & field teams.

The route will start and end downtown on East Main Street. Organizers say it’s a fun run, so the course is flat and fast in the streets of St. Joseph.

Senior student Joe Griebat is ready for the challenge.

“Get out the door, get it in, do what you can do. It’ll benefit everybody in the long run.”

Fellow senior Savanna Franzen looks forward to the event’s uplifting atmosphere.

“Just having, like, a support system and having everyone out there, it’s great anyways,” she said. “Like, everyone feels better when when someone’s cheering them on.”

Registration is now in-person only at the IGA parking lot on Friday from 5 – 7 p.m. and Saturday morning, pre-race, from 6 – 7 a.m. Cost is $25.
