Vivian Lee Messner, 68, of Colonial Beach passed away peacefully at her brother’s home in Timonium, MD on June 23, 2024, after bravely battling pancreatic cancer. Born in Huntington, WV on August 25, 1955, she graduated from Mynderse Academy in Seneca Falls, NY in 1973 and from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst with a BS in accounting in 1977. She served as an information technology specialist for a major defense contractor and later for Geico, where she worked for over 20 years, retiring in 2014.

CHARLOTTE HALL, Md. – On June 21, 2024, Albert Steven Cherrico of Mechanicsville was formally charged by the District Court of Maryland for Saint Mary’s County with multiple counts of theft. Smith Point Sea Rescue (SPSR) editor Dan Morissette recently reported that crews responded to the following calls for assistance:. March 14: At 1 p.m., SPSR received a report from a boater that a motor hose had broken on his 20-foot Wellcraft center console on Cockrell Creek. Rescue I dispatched with a crew of three, quickly located the vessel with one aboard, and towed it to Shell Landing for trailering. Time on call: 40 minutes.

As we try to move on in the light of our dad’s passing; we have racked our brains in ways to best honor his legacy. In a few words; what we remember most about our dad is his giving spirit and the support he showed our community. We are happy to share our first act to keep his legacy alive. We are not sure if you have heard of the Survivor Tractor, but long story short, this tractor has been raising money to support Cancer for quite some time. Our dad bought the tractor several times as it hit the auction circuit. He was the last purchaser right before the onset of Covid. So, we thought it is only fitting to use this Survivor Tractor to help support the families of local children with cancer.
