MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich.—Central Michigan offensive lineman Dominic Serapiglia III has been nominated for two of college football's most prestigious national community service awards including the AFCA Good Works Team and Wuerffel Trophy. He is among a long list of college football players at the FBS, FCS, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA levels nominated for the AFCA Good Works Team and Wuerffel Trophy.

Q: Hi! Thanks for doing this interview. Could you introduce yourself to us?. A: Thanks for asking me to do it! My name is Alyssa Evans and I am a student in the Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Creative Writing program at Alma College. I received my bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan in 2016 and earned a master’s degree in English from Grand Valley State University (GVSU) a couple of years later. When I’m not in class at Alma, I teach classes in English and writing at GVSU. I joined the Alma College MFA program in order to pursue my dream of writing for a living! I’m thrilled to be here.

Eldon Jay Roberts, Age 75 of Elsie, Michigan died on June 20, 2024, at his home. He was born on August 18, 1948, to the late Wayne and Beatrice (Frisbie) Roberts in Detroit, Michigan. He grew up in Middleton, Michigan on the Roberts centennial family farm. He graduated from Fulton High School and went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree from the Michigan State University College of Agriculture. He was a proud Spartan and member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity where he made many lifelong friends.

Apple Mountain Golf Club hosting 10th GAM Super Senior Championship
FREELAND – Apple Mountain Golf Club, a host of several GAM tournaments in recent years, will welcome some of them back when the 10th GAM Super Senior Championship is hosted by the popular course Monday and Tuesday, July 15-16. A field of 80 GAM golfers ages 65-and-over will compete in the 36-hole stroke play championship, which crowns an overall Super Senior champion and presents a Legends Division for golfers ages 70-and-over. In addition, a Grand Legend award is presented to the player over age 75 with the lowest score.

An annual fundraiser for the Mt. Pleasant Police Youth Services Unit is more than a month away, but pre-orders are now available for larger orders of Pixie coney dogs. Coneys for a Cause is scheduled for Aug. 12-16 at the Pixie, 302 N. Mission St., where customers can get $1.99 coneys while helping the youth of Isabella County.
