ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Pavel Buchnevich ain't going anywhere.

On Tuesday, the St. Louis Blues announced they have signed Buchnevich to a six-year contract extension worth $48 million total and $8 million a year. The extension will begin in 2025-26 season.

Buchnevich was entering the last year of a four-year deal worth $23.2 million he signed after being acquired from the New York Rangers in 2021 in exchange for Sammy Blais and a second-round draft pick.

Since being acquired by the Blues, Buchnevich has been a key player for the club, posting 206 points and 83 goals in 216 games.

The extension to Buchnevich caps off a very busy last five days for the Blues, which has seen the club acquire three players through trade, re-sign forward Kasperi Kapanen, traded Kevin Hayes to the Pittsburgh Penguins in effectively a salary dump, and draft nine players in the 2024 NHL Draft , with the Blues first three selections being defenseman, including top pick Adam Jiricek out of Czechia.
