Spanish Lake firework gathering leaves one dead, five injured

ST. LOUIS COUNTY – A man is left dead and five others shot after a shooting at a heavily attended firework gathering in north St. Louis County.

The incident occurred around 11:15 p.m. when police received a call for a shooting that happened on the 1200 block of Lakeview Avenue in Spanish Lake.

Police found a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The man was transported to the hospital for treatment but later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

Five additional adults were transported to the area hospital with gunshot injuries as well. Police say two of those adults are suffering from life-threatening injuries, while the other three have non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is still ongoing.
