    St. Louis man accused of banging hammer on neighbor’s door

    ST. LOUIS – Authorities arrested a 67-year-old man was accused of banging a hammer on a neighbor’s door in a disturbance Thursday afternoon.

    Prosecutors with the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office have charged Eddie Dickens with one felony count of first-degree property damage amid the investigation.

    The situation unfolded around 5:10 p.m. in the Penrose neighborhood on the 3700 block of Shreve Avenue.

    According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police probable statement, Dickens initially woke up his neighbors by knocking on their door. A short time later, neighbors told Dickens that they could not help him and closed the door.

    Dickens reportedly returned with a hammer and began banging it on the neighbor’s door. According to the probable cause statement, this led to more than $750 in property damage, most notably to the door.

    Dickens was arrested at the scene of the disturbance, according to the probable cause statement.
