ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Jayson Tatum becomes the latest athlete with ties to St. Louis to grace a cover of a video game.

On Wednesday, 2K Sports announced the cover athletes for NBA 2K25, with Jayson Tatum among the three athletes that will be on the cover of the game, joining Las Vegas Aces center Aja Wilson and Toronto Raptors legend Vince Carter.

Tatum, who recently helped guide the Boston Celtics to their NBA-leading 18 championships, will be on the cover of the standard edition of NBA 2K25 along with joining Wilson as cover athletes for the game's All-Star edition.

Wilson will also be the cover-athlete for the game's GameStop-exclusive version NBA 2K25 WNBA Edition, while Carter will be the cover athlete of the game's Hall of Fame Edition.

"It’s an honor to be named a cover athlete for NBA 2K25," said Tatum in a press release from 2K Sports. "I’ve been playing NBA 2K since I was a kid and it’s been a dream to one day be on the cover. Even after coming off an NBA Championship, it’s humbling to see this come to life."

Tatum, a Chaminade graduate, will be one of the many notable St.Louis athletes to have graced a video game cover.

Former St. Louis Blues defenseman Chris Pronger graced the cover of NHL 2000 and NHL Hitz 2003, while former Blues forward Vladimir Tarasenko graced the cover of NHL 17.

Cardinals legendary first baseman Albert Pujols was the cover athlete of MVP Baseball 2004 and then-St. Louis Rams legendary running back Marshall Faulk was the cover athlete of Madden NFL 2003.

WWE superstar and St. Louis-native Randy Orton was the cover athlete for WWE '12 and appeared alongside John Cena, Edge, Undertaker and Rey Mysterio as cover athletes for WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010.

NBA 2K25 will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch and released on Sept. 6. The standard edition and WNBA edition will cost $69.99 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC, and $59.99 on Nintendo Switch, while the All-Star and limited-available Hall of Fame Edition will cost $99.99 and $149.99, respectively.
