    CENTRAL, Mo. (KOAM) — Massive amounts of rainfall in a short period of time is causing flooding issues from Central Missouri through the St Louis area, Illinois and Tennessee. And it is not over, the NWS-St Louis issued a Flood Warning until Wednesday morning at 7 a.m.

    The Katy Trail which crosses nearly the entire state is experiencing flooding.

    Flash flooding is actively occurring in many locations along the eastern half of the Katy Trail. Use extreme caution, avoid the trail if possible today. If water is over the trail, turn around and DO NOT ENTER FLOODED AREAS. Reports are coming in of flash flooding at the Marthasville Trailhead. We are also seeing advisories for high winds and conditions favorable to tornadoes around Treloar this afternoon. Please use extreme caution, avoid Marthasville for the time being, check the Katy Trail Advisory Map for the latest conditions . ” — KATY TRAIL STATE PARK

    And the rain is not finished. The National Weather Service St Louis has issued a Flood Warning for the area mapped until Wednesday morning at 7 a.m.

    A boundary will drift southward with additional showers and thunderstorms expected along and south of the boundary this evening into tonight. Severe weather potential overlaps with the heavy rain threat. The severe weather threat is low with localized damaging wind gusts to 60 mph and small hail. The higher impact is expected to result from heavy rainfall that could lead to additional flash flooding. Chances (70-100%) are highest 7 p.m. to Midnight, though a Flash Flood Watch extends through 7 a.m. Wednesday. ” — NWS-STL

    Across the state line in East St Louis at the Saint Clair County Animal Services in Belleville, Illinois, they share video of their building flooded at least waist deep and dogs swimming out the front door.

    Residents of Nashville, Illinois, were advised Tuesday morning to leave their homes immediately after flood damage became evident at the Nashville Reservior and Dam.
