CareSTL Health introduces new home of health center

ST. LOUIS – A new health center is filling a void that too many people in communities have to deal with.

CareSTL Health is adding a Husky Health Center that could change the game when it comes to healthcare access and resource availability. The new building will be at the Ritenour School District on Midland Boulevard in Overland.

“I am so excited. If you don’t understand the lack of access to healthcare, you know how important this is to serve this community,” CareSTL Health President and CEO Angela Clabon said. “W serve from seniors on down to children, so it’s open to the community.”

The welcome extends to those who don’t have health insurance, too. CareSTL covers those costs with a sliding fee scale, offering services with a discount through a major federal grant.

“We received $5.6 million from the federal government to take care of the vulnerable population,” Clabon said. “We use federal resources to take on persons who don’t have insurance and are underinsured.”

Inside the center, visitors can expect a waiting room, two clinic rooms, and a research room for doctors. Three staff members will be available, according to Ritenour School District Superintendent Chris Kilbride, which include a nurse practitioner, a behavioral health specialist, and an office specialist.
