ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - A child was killed in a multi-vehicle crash Thursday morning on eastbound Interstate 70 at Grand Boulevard.

On Thursday, shortly after 8 a.m., a Dodge vehicle collided with a semi-truck, causing debris to travel into other lanes. This debris carried into express lanes, causing a crash involving three more vehicles.

According to St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, a child, between the age of 3-years-old and 5-years-old, who was passenger in the Dodge was ejected in the crash. The child was not restrained in the vehicle.

The child was taken to an area hospital, where they later died.

Two adults who were also in the Dodge vehicle were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured.

It still remains unclear how the accident happened and police say they are in the early stages of their accident reconstruction investigation.

This story is breaking and will be updated as soon as more information is available.
