ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The St. Louis Cardinals made a litany of moves in their minor league system Tuesday, with the club finally determining where 2024 first-round pick JJ Wetherholt will begin his professional baseball career.

On Tuesday, the Cardinals announced that nine of the Cardinals 2024 draft picks, including Wetherholt, will begin their professional baseball careers in Single-A with the Palm Beach Cardinals.

Wetherholt, who signed his deal with the Cardinals last week, finished his final year with West Virginia on a solid note, slashing .331/.472/.589 with eight home runs, eight doubles, 30 RBI, 30 runs scored, six steals, and 30 walks with just 17 strikeouts in 164 plate appearances.

Alongside the moves, the Cardinals also announced that six players have received promotions from Palm Beach to High-A Peoria Chiefs, including 2023 Cardinals first-round draft pick Chase Davis.

Davis has done well in Palm Beach this season, posting a 112 wRC+ in the 74 games he's played, while slashing a .232/.337/.401 slash line and hitting eight home runs, and striking out 25.1% of the time while walking at a very good rate of 12.7%.

As part of the Cardinals flurry of moves in the minor leagues, the Cardinals also announced they have released Moises Gomez.
