    Falcons baseball goes 1-2 in section tournament

    Armstrong baseball played three games in the Section 6AAAA tournament last week as the sixth seed, eventually concluding their season in the elimination bracket.

    Park

    Armstrong began the Section 6AAAA tournament May 25, taking on third seed St. Louis Park in a 7-3 Orioles victory. Dayton Franke, Dawson Franke and AJ Kuebelbeck scored one run each. Kuebelbeck also had three hits, one a double. Dayton Franke had two hits, while Harrison Boughton hit an RBI double. Luke Weisjahn also had one RBI. Sam Schultz got two kills for Armstrong on the mound, pitching four innings and part of a fifth.

    Washburn

    Armstrong found a perfect response to the round one loss, beating second seed Washburn 10-5 in the Section 6AAAA elimination bracket at Parade Stadium May 27. Tanner Rausch hit a double and four RBIs in a big performance, while Weisjahn had two RBIs in the win. Dawson Franke scored three runs and hit a double, while Jack Welters and Dayton Franke each scored one run in the win. Dayton Franke also earned four kills from three and one-third innings pitched, while Nick Riddle had three kills in the remainder of the game.

    Edina

    Armstrong then fell 9-1 to fourth seed Edina May 30 to end their 2024 season and Section 6AAAA tournament run. The Falcons ended the Spring with a 4-8 Northwest Suburban Conference record, 7-15 overall this season.

    Armstrong will graduate nine seniors this season, including Harrison Boughton, Alex Brower, Nick Riddle, Sam Schultz, AJ Kuebelbeck, Dayton Franke, Tanner Rausch, Oscar Schulte and Nate Hawkinson.
