A former employee of the Jacksonville Jaguars now faces a lawsuit by the NFL team he stole more than $22 million from to pay his gambling debts. The Jaguars sued Amit Patel on Thursday, July 19 for $66.7 million — triple what he was convicted of embezzling to fund a lavish lifestyle and feed his addiction to sports betting. The team cited a Florida law that says victims of theft are entitled to recover triple the amount stolen.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have filed a lawsuit against a former employee who is serving prison time after pleading guilty to stealing $22 million from the NFL team’s virtual credit card program. The lawsuit, filed Thursday in Duval County Circuit Court, seeks more than $66 million in damages, or three times the amount Amit Patel admitted stealing to feed a gambling addiction and a lavish lifestyle. The 31-year=old Patel was sentenced to more than six years in federal prison in March after pleading guilty to charges of wire fraud and making an illegal monetary transaction.

Florida Blue to open Sanitas Medical Center in Crossroads Square
A third Florida Blue Sanitas Medical Center has been identified for Jacksonville, this one in the Crossroads Square shopping center in Southwest Jacksonville. The first opened Jan. 2 in the Regency area of Arlington.
