Columbia Urban League donates $80K to Midlands school districts
COLUMBIA, S.C. — The Columbia Urban League announced Monday morning it is donating $80,000 in food cards to local school districts to help pay for student meals. The food cards would go directly to the administration of Richland One, Richland Two, and Lexington/Richland Five districts to help with their ColaEats program. It will be up to the school districts to identify which students who would benefit from the funds.

New vegan cafe officially opening Tuesday in Columbia on North Main Street
The City of Columbia Office of Business Opportunities announced that More Vegan Cafe, is set to officially open downtown on North Main Street this week. The new vegan eatery is located at 4622 North Main Street and will offer plant-based dishes infused with Italian, Caribbean, American, and Asian influences. More Vegan Cafe has been open since March; however, city officials have scheduled its official grand opening and ribbon-cutting press conference at 10 a.m. on Tuesday.

A national fitness studio has opened a location in Columbia. City officials helped welcome Hotworx Fitness Studio with a ribbon cutting ceremony at its location at 4464 Devine St., Suite G. At-Large City Councilwoman Dr. Aditi Bussells, Columbia Economic Development staff, Chamber of Commerce representatives and Hotworx business owners all gave remarks about the continued growth and investment in Columbia, according to a news release.
