VI Port Authority Approves New HERA and CEKA Airport Terminal Concepts
The Board of Governors of the Virgin Islands Port Authority approved the concept for a new terminal building at the Henry E. Rohlsen Airport on St. Croix, as presented by VIports Partners. VIports also presented its concept for the Cyril E. King Airport Terminal on St. Thomas, which includes renovation of the existing terminal within its current footprint and expansion of the second floor for passenger use. The presentation of the proposed concepts was made during the VIPA Board Committee of the Whole meeting on June 27.

Ronald Eugene Holsclaw, 82, of Tell City, Indiana passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. The Louisville native was born August 3, 1941, to the late John Holsclaw and Dorothy Hurley Holsclaw. Ron graduated from Shawnee High School, class of 1960. He was a retiree of The National Asbestos Workers Union as an Insulator. He loved to travel. His favorite part of the USA was the American West. Ron enjoyed a good meal, especially at the Riverview Restaurant on the Ohio River, dancing and classic cars. He was a generous man with a sense of humor.

Cannelton Registration/Enrollment for the 2024-2025 School Year
Registration will be held on July 22nd and July 23rd from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Cannelton High School for grades PK-12. All families (even currently enrolled) are required to bring a proof of address.

Battletown Blowout continues to bring community together
Battletown Community Park hosted their annual “Battletown Blowout” on Saturday, June 29th. The yearly summer celebration is a free event the Board of Directors holds to bring the community together and help raise donations to fund the festivities and future improvements to the small park. Although the event name has changed a few times over the years, there has been a community picnic at this location nearly every year since the park was created in 1969, just one year after a board of directors was originally elected by the community to help fulfill the dream of having a local park.

Mother and Daughter Shot in St. Croix Housing Community on Independence Day
ST. CROIX — A violent altercation in the Candido Guadalupe Terrace housing community on July 4 resulted in a mother and her 15-year-old daughter being shot, the V.I. Police Department has confirmed. The suspect, identified as 52-year-old Miguel A. Marrero, opened fire following a confrontation regarding a fight between his son and the victim's daughter.
“Dangerous” Subject Of Felony Warrants Arrested Saturday In Cannelton
CANNELTON, In. (07/06/24) – An Indiana man named on felony warrants was taken into custody following a search Saturday afternoon in the Cannelton area. 40-year-old Donald Ray Cronin was wanted on charges including unlawful possession of firearm as well as meth and marijuana as well as an out-of-state warrant. Cronin was considered “dangerous” by authorities but the Perry County Sheriff’s Department and Indiana State Police located and arrested Cronin without incident. He was lodged in the Perry County Detention Center.
