Patricia Gail (DeWitt) Russelburg
Patricia Gail Russelburg, 71, 0f Hawesville, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at her home under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born in Breckinridge County on October 8, 1952 to the late Jasper and Bernice Brown Dewitt. Gail was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and was a retired security guard. She enjoyed yard sales, “junking” and horses. Gail was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Rachele Ress and son-in-law, James G. McCrary.
French Lick Resort makes ‘Most Historic Golf Courses’ list
Historic Hotels of America has released its list of the 2024 Most Historic Golf Courses list, and French Lick Resort is among those being recognized. The list highlights the history of golf in the U.S. “through many of the most beautiful, prestigious, and iconic American golf courses that continue to attract both leisure seekers and serious athletes.”
Anthony Jerome Cecil
Anthony Jerome Cecil, 75, of Hawesville passed away on July 9, 2024, at his home. He was born in Owensboro on March 15, 1949, to John William and Willie Mae Cecil. Anthony was a Vietnam veteran who enjoyed learning, gardening, fishing, and long talks with anyone who would sit and listen. He was always out and about, keeping himself busy.
Dorothy Strobel
DALE — Dorothy A. Strobel, 85, of Dale, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2024. She was born Jan. 21, 1939, in New Boston to Hubert and Elsie (Friedel) Brinksneader; and married James A Strobel on June 24, 1961, at St. John Chrysostom Catholic Church in New Boston. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi/St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dale. Together, Dorothy and James traveled to 48 different states. She enjoyed bird watching, especially cardinals, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James A Strobel, who passed away on May 24, 2014; and brother, Ronald Brinksneader.
Vendors benefit South Spencer
ROCKPORT — South Spencer High School hosted a large vendor fair in the auditorium to beat the heat of the summer on Saturday, July 13. The fair offered booths from about 40 vendors with a large variety of wares. Shoppers had a nice selection of goods to choose from. All proceeds are set to benefit South Spencer’s extracurricular programs and groups.

Alicia John-Henry, aka Peppah of F’sted, St. Croix U.S. Virgin Islands, passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2024. She was 75 years old. She was preceded in death by her mother, Odelia Nesbitt; grandparents, Alice V. Nesbitt and George H. Nesbitt; son, Reinhold John Jr.; grandchildren, Kadiyen Illidge; sisters, Myrna Muriel and Audrey Muriel; brother, Russell Muriel; aunt, Hyacinth P. Nesbitt; uncle, Douglas D. Nesbitt.

Seibert Announced as May 2024 UCA Graduate
CONWAY, AR— Noah Seibert of Jasper graduated with a(n) Bachelor of Business Administration from The University of Central Arkansas fall commencement, in the Farris Center on campus. Degrees and certificates were conferred to approximately 1,600 graduates from the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences; College of Business; College of Education; College of Health and Behavioral Sciences; College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics; and Graduate School.

FAIRBANKS, AK— Dorothy Sherer of Huntingburg, IN, has been named to the spring 2024 chancellor's list at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks. Students receiving a 3.9 grade point average or higher are placed on the chancellor's list, while those receiving a grade point average of between 3.5 and 3.89 are named to the deans' list. The lists recognize students' outstanding academic achievements. UAF is a Land, Sea and Space Grant institution and is the leading doctoral degree-granting institution in the state of Alaska. Since it was founded in 1917, UAF has been internationally recognized for research relating to the Arctic and sub-Arctic in areas such as biology, geophysics, engineering, natural resources and global climate change.
