Jasper Athletics releases Fall Hall of Fame Banquet Information
Jasper - Jasper Athletics has announced ticketing information for this fall's Hall of Fame Banquet. Jasper High School sent out the following press release. Tickets are being sold for the third annual induction banquet of the Jasper High School Athletic Hall of Fame. The banquet will be held Saturday, September 21, at the Calumet Lake Event Plaza. Doors will open at 5 p.m. for a reception/cocktail hour, dinner at 6:30 p.m., and the ceremony at 7:30 p.m. The meal will be catered by chef Tim Flick and his Carodella’s Custom Catering business. Cost is $25 per person.

Walmart helps Kiwanis with food boxes
TELL CITY — The food basket program done by the Kiwanis club helps over 1,000 people in the county. This is especially true with the economy struggling. The food basket program has changed over the years. They used to deliver food to homes but when COVID-19 hit, individuals started to pick up their baskets from Ivy Tech. Kiwanis member said they are blessed to have the help of Ivy Tech and other members of the community.

Isaac Corley played his guitar and sang some songs at Cannelton’s July 4th Shindig. When interviewed about his passion for music he stated that for now he is solely playing music part time on the side. Someday, he aspires to play music full time. Hopefully, one day he can bring this dream to fruition. Currently, he is a full-time employee for Tell City’s water department.
Season in review: Tell City softball
TELL CITY — The Tell City softball team this season played in 22 games and their overall record resulted in the Marksmen going 11-11. Tell City’s first three games of the season resulted in two wins and one loss. The Marksmen defeated South Spencer and Perry Central while they lost to Corydon Central. Overall, the Marksmen combined for 17 runs on 13 hits in their win against South Spencer. Tell City against Perry Central won 8-5 with five of the team’s runs coming from the bottom of the second inning. Four players also contributed two or more hits including Reese Ford, Emme Hoesli, Bailey McWhirter, and Elaina Embry.

LEOPOLD — Perry Central softball for the 2023-2024 season finished with a record of 14-10 overall with a sectional win. The Commodores started the season by going 2-2 in their first four games. They beat Owensboro Home School and North Harrison before losing to Mount Vernon and Tell City. Perry Central against Owensboro finished with eight runs and MaKenna Labhart had four of the eight RBI. The team also combined for seven hits.

Betty Ford Morris, 85, of Hawesville, beloved wife, mother, Ganny and sister passed away peacefully into the arms of her Father on July 12, 2024 after having a wonderful Life.
