Jasper Parklands lookout tower and prescribed burn discussed
When The Parklands plans were created, a lookout tower and amphitheater were among the items included as a future addition to the popular park. At Tuesday’s Jasper Park and Recreation Board meeting, the board reviewed the original plans and a few options for lookout tower designs. Though no clear plan forward was set in motion, the review gave the park board an update on how that new feature could be added.

A strong lover of her family, she was a wonderful mother, an amazing grandmother and such a blessing to her great grandchildren. She loved spending time with them and kept her “goody cabinet” stocked and ready for a visit. She was preceded in death by her husband Wilford Morris, sisters Nancy Peter, Mary Marchand, Thelma Wolf, Velma Taylor and brother Henry Ford.

Cloverport City Council
7/15/2024—The Cloverport City Council approved a motion to draft an ordinance that would increase the sewage rate to 100% of the water bill at their regular meeting Monday evening. Previously, the Council had agreed to a 150% rate increase. The vote came after a lengthy discussion. Maggie Neal, representing Rural Community Assistance Partnership, said the sewer plant was on the ”brink of failure” and needed to be replaced with a new plant. She estimated replacement costs at $5 million. She said the city is currently paying $10,000 monthly to treat the wastewater. Neal said a rate study will be done later this year. After the study, rates may need to again be adjusted. The vote on the motion was 5-1, with Councilman Michael Woodward voting “no”.

Sarah Adeline McCall Trogden, 91, of Maceo, passed away Thursday, July 11, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 26, 1932, to the late Ezekiel William Sr. and Nettie Josephine McCall. Sarah was a member of Lewisburg Presbyterian Church. She dedicated her life to her family and built her life around them. Sarah enjoyed watching TV, especially UK Basketball, decorating, playing video games with her grandchildren, traveling, reading, doing puzzles, and crocheting. She was an excellent cook and made the best macaroni and cheese and banana pudding. Sarah enjoyed spending time with her family most of all and was very proud of her grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
