Betty Ford Morris, 85, of Hawesville, beloved wife, mother, Ganny and sister passed away peacefully into the arms of her Father on July 12, 2024 after having a wonderful Life. She was born on June 14, 1939 to the late Henry and Thelma Lanman Ford in Tell City, IN. A strong lover of her family, she was a wonderful mother, an amazing grandmother and such a blessing to her great grandchildren. She loved spending time with them and kept her “goody cabinet” stocked and ready for a visit. She was preceded in death by her husband Wilford Morris, sisters Nancy Peter, Mary Marchand, Thelma Wolf, Velma Taylor and brother Henry Ford.

Sharon Lunsford, of Dale, passed away at 12:40 on July 11, 2024. Born to Seibert and Pauline Crose, she was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. READI funds develop new pedestrian corridor in downtown Huntingburg
HUNTINGBURG – An underutilized alley in Huntingburg has been transformed into a vibrant public space that increases access to to retail shops and businesses. The city of Huntingburg is celebrating the opening of this new asset in its downtown historic district made possible with Indiana’s Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative (READI). The Huntingburg Alley Activation project received $110,000 of READI 1.0 funds. The alley activation will create new opportunities to gather and connect, as well as strengthen the community’s identity in Indiana Uplands region.
75 Years of America’s First Theme Park
While on a recent visit to the park, I picked up a copy of Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari: 75 Years of America’s First Theme Park book by Jim Futrell, Ron Gustafson, Dave Hahner, Nell Hedge, Leah Koch. It celebrates the history of the Koch family, the origins of Santa Claus, Indiana, and the early years of Santa Claus Land (as it was originally called). The story continues with the transformation from Santa Claus Land to Holiday World, the addition of the park’s famous trio of top-ranked wooden roller coasters, and the development of Splashin’ Safari Water Park.
