Sarah Adeline McCall Trogden, 91, of Maceo, passed away Thursday, July 11, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born Nov. 26, 1932, to the late Ezekiel William Sr. and Nettie Josephine McCall. Sarah was a member of Lewisburg Presbyterian Church. She dedicated her life to her family and built her life around them. Sarah enjoyed watching TV, especially UK Basketball, decorating, playing video games with her grandchildren, traveling, reading, doing puzzles, and crocheting. She was an excellent cook and made the best macaroni and cheese and banana pudding. Sarah enjoyed spending time with her family most of all and was very proud of her grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

The 1996 graduate knew her alma mater established the Jasper High School Athletic Hall of Fame, only not to think much of it — but sure enough, she’s a 2024 Hall of Fame inductee as part of just the third class in history.
READI brings new vibrancy, community connections to downtown Huntingburg
HUNTINGBURG — The city of Huntingburg is celebrating the opening of a new community asset in its downtown historic district thanks to Indiana’s Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative (READI). The Huntingburg Alley Activation project received $110,000 of READI 1.0 funds. The alley activation transformed an underutilized area into a vibrant public space that increases access to businesses and retail shops, creates new opportunities to gather and connect, and strengthens the community’s identity in Indiana Uplands region.

Among them where the Perry County Council on Aging, funding for a girls’ softball barn, funds to resurface the track at Legion, Clarity Audiology equipment, Perry Central pickle ball court, an extended track in Derby, Rome courthouse repairs, the Perry County food pantry coalition, including the Cannelton food pantry.
